Hi Thomas,

It would be great to meet up with you but I'm afraid I'm going to be flat out over the time you're here. I hope you have a great time. If you're in North Canterbury in January you'd be welcome to drop by if you need a civilisation break :-). Just drop me a line.

Regards,

Jo

Hi Paul, I tie a regular bow and then knot the loops of the bow. I guess the best way to describe it would be that I'm tying a reef knot with the loops. I can't remember this coming undone. I also always wear gravel guards, so that helps too, it's a bit like taping them down :-). With my waders I u...

Hi Hans, Nice video. I haven't had a lot of time lately but I'm looking forward to catching up on your videos. It's a nice fly too. Although I would typically fish parachutes as opposed to collar hackle dries for some reason I have a bit of a soft spot for palmered dries, like the Griffith's Gnat o...

Hi Paul, I think the Simms Streamtread soles are fine on muddy surfaces. When I say "fine" I don't mean they're magical and slip free, just that they're as good as anything else I've worn, including hiking boots. I was surprised actually, even the old less aggressive looking Aquastealth s...

I might give that try Chris. Something about indicator putty has always bugged me though :-). If I'm using yarn instead of an indicator fly it's only a small bit of yarn so turnover hasn't been a problem so far. I think the indicator with hook is the way to go. The indicator fly was shown to me by ...

Do you think if you'd discovered this weed guard a while back you'd be allowed in the US?

It's a clever idea, as the fish bites down the guard slides out of the way? I guess the only issue would be if the fish took the whole fly.

Jo

Hi, I reckon the indicator fly I show in my nymphing article is the best: http://www.sexyloops.com/articles/how_i_nymph.shtml The best for my purposes anyway :-). When it gets windy I've recently started using a bit of poly yarn with the standard indicator knot. It's a lot easier to cast in the win...

Hi, I usually soak mine and then hand clean them. Although when I say usually I mean perhaps 4 times in the several years I've owned them... It's also been suggested to me that you dry them in a clothes drier on a warmish setting because it helps the little hairs on the surface stand up again. The ...

Hi Paul, The spray painting has worked and even if I do say so myself, it's a bloody fantastic job. Pictures Or It Didn't Happen :-). You might have to outline the vest so we can see it, or put it against a bright background. It was quick too, so with half a dozen different colour spray cans I can ...

Hi Paul, I wonder if lighter colours aren't better. I have to say I often think about a day we fished on the way to Lewis Pass. With your camo gear you actually really stood out as a dark blob. It got worse the further away you were, the darker colours starting to dominate, though I guess that's pr...
