When I first saw those bits the first thing that came to mind was that it was sawdust as well. I looked at some under a microscope though and found that it is actually bits of dried flesh. Bill

When Mike had his website on the internet he related a great story about coming home on a motorcycle after a fishing trip. On the way he hit an owl with his helmet. I can't remember all of the details but I do remember how much I enjoyed reading about it. Bill

Make the first cuts shallow and flat so you create something like a box shape. Then cut off the edges for a hexagram shape. Finally round off all of the remaining edges. I find that scissors with good serrations help a lot. Bill

I'm a big fan of Cutcliffe but outside of the book he wrote I haven't been able to find anything else about the flies of Devonshire. Can you suggest a source for further information.

I have both a first edition and the 1990 version. The newer version explains that for the sake of economy the colour plates were reproduced in black and white. I would recommend paying more for an edition with the original colour plates. They are really stunning especially considering the printing ...
