I have 2 Old Floridas, a LA88 and a LA77 and for my money the OF guarantee is great, you stuff it they will fix it, and if you need and bigger and better reel than a LA88 you are kidding yourself. It is 4.5" diameter holds 500 of 50 Gsp, a long 120' running line and a 40 foot head. The drag is...

Denham, do you have to, do you have choices. They run a charter from there, mostly bottom bouncing, more better idea go to Carnarvon, fish the jettys and the beaches. There are mulloway around the 1 mile jetty, and tailor around the old prawn jetty. The best tailor spots are where there are structu...

Like I said cyclones ae getting later and more violent, but you should keep monitoring the weather. Now its July and the winds up north are easterly, and great. The worst winds are southerly, and a look at the coastal structure will tell you why, they are constant, in afternoons. We call it the sea...

For the record, you don't need to get Abels, there are a dozen types of reels out there that will handle 12# rods and big fish. Tibors, Old Florida/Nautilus etc will do the job equally as well.

The thing is to keep an eye on WA weather on the net, early this week for example the winds up at Exmouth were easterly, ideal, yesterday here easterly, water flat at the lagoon. The cyclone seasons are getting later and are becoming stronger, due it is said the climate change. To fish places like ...

I can't recall ever saying anyone buying new gear was nuts. And yes its highly probable that if you used "S" glass rods they would last longer.
Nobody wants to answer the question. Too hard?

Well I'm off to Quobba in a week or so, and the DH rods are going along, so we'll know won't we, whether they are crap or not. I'll see what happens, miles of gibbers to fish, and hopefully heaps of finny things. But let me say this, abuse never upset me as much as people think, it just makes me la...

Actually I was never in the No1 spot and neither is Morsie. That has and always will be the domain of Ron Pearson out here, until he quits or karks it. I think he has caught more for longer with less than anyone on the planet.
Tough but thems the way things are. MaxG.

Paul, not all "guides" around here are licensed by the States they operate in, and if you get guided to some outlandish places, that is pay for the experience ,you want to ensure that the guy being paid has public liabiity insurance, since accidents can happen, and they might not be your ...

Easy, just went fishing. That old gear was pretty good really, nothing fancy, just straight out fishing tackle. It didn't break all that often. We didn't worry about who's fly lines worked best in the heat or cold, just used good old tough SA HiD shooting heads and Dacron running line. I have to ad...

They did after the SWFROA asked me to do it, I didn't do it just for me. By the way back then after the IGFA took over records from SWFROA they didn't accept queenfish. They do now, My SWFROA Queenie record on 6lb was 16lb 12oz off the Carnarvon jetty, back in 1971 odd. The current IGFA record is 1...

Personally I don't give a hoot for records, and haven't for years, Everyone to his own taste. What did the "world record weigh" mine went 35 on 9.7 tippet.
But its now defunct, Noddy creamed it a few years ago.

The kings under foot. Well they do it wherever there are holes and caves underneath. They love structures. I'd love to find a place where they don't have holes under your feet. It would be easy, just hang on a sooner or later they give up. But you can also use the "do nuthin" system where...

Did IGFA allow a platform change. Bit like fudging to me. If you can't get it off what you hooked it from, blooey.
I thought you couldn't change anything, like rods, platforms or anglers. Thinga have gotten worse haven';t they. MaxG
