Thanks for all of your replies. One reason I asked the question is I'm thinking about what I can do better next season (am in the UK and the Trout season is finished until Mar-2010) and matching leader to flyline is something I want to look at. Now I know the flyline core is a constant, I'm happy t...

Fly line construction question

Is the core of a floating flyline a consistent strength/diameter?

If I'm looking at a WF floater, is the running line, rear taper, body, front taper and tip all built up from a single diameter core; simply more coating in the fatter sections?

Thank you

A good-looking catalogue: I wonder if the Indicator Line is the "I Line" which Lee Cummings (White Hunter) has been hinting at recently?

I'm going to be in South Island with a couple of friends at the end of January. OK so no-one knows me; I've been lurking on this forum for a while. Actually I have met a couple of the guys ... Is the South Island Clave a "by invitation" event or can my friends and I "drop in" if...

How do you fish without a reel? I did so with a cane pole and black line when I was a kid but I never tried fly fishing without a place to keep the line. I did it once by arriving at the river with two rods, flies, et cetera ... and no reels. An hour and a half home and back, or improvise and fish?...

MED carry is approx 77ft of MED5 outside the tip ring, Bill. I don't know if that's a useful figure for you but that would be my distance carry with that particular line. Possibly up to four feet longer. The TCR5 really likes this carry for distance, and I believe its optimal for the line in questi...
