NIX ON FELT - prohibition on felt boots missouri
this may have already been posted, if so, forgive me, been off site for a while---missouri has banned felt on their streams, in the spirit of not contracting rock snot from arkansas and other venereal areas, so, you'll have to wear rubbers when now wading there. didymo, the gift that keeps on giving

we'll said, we've all had that discussion, as with the other some 1000 sq inches associated with your waders, or the some 10000 sq inches associated with your boat, definitely a mico management issue, but, as with most govt. mandates, like being forced to wear a motorcycle helmet while humming along at 180 on your katana,---it's all in the spirit of someone being able to stand up and say "look what a good thing iv'e done"--not that it's a bad thing, but it's still just a thing, and not that i have a solution either, but it's fun to sit on the sidelines and bitch about you broken back from trying to wade in the "so called, felt substitutes, and stay out of my boat with those , fucking studs on your boots.--wish there was a positive solution.--untill then we'll use slippery substitutes

It's very difficult. From my experience in NZ, where it was either recommended or compulsory to bleach your boots in warm water, despite later being shown not to work 100%, a large proportion of anglers never bothered. So felt was banned. One could argue that this should have happened earlier. One thing is for sure, it's a catastrophe.
The Simms rubbery boots are pretty good on some rock types. Felt would be ok if you didn't move rivers, or had separate boots for different rivers, or removable felt soles that were treated thoroughly. But I don't think that's going to work.
You're right of course: without felt wading can be very dangerous. I've certainly taken many dunkings without it.
Cheers, Paul
