T38 Set Up
I'm thinking of getting a T38 outfit (or cobbling something together short term).
After a bit of info about the rods / blanks that are used. I notice the rod can be anything up to 9'10". Do most go for the max length and what is the approximate stiffness (grams or ERN) of one of these sticks?
Other thing is the head, I know there is the orange A irflo made head available but is there anything else that anyone uses?
Thanks in advance
Ben

Rod wise - there is little to beat the GLoomis T38 or T42.
The T38 is slightly more forgiving however the T42 will drive a faster tighter loop.
Length wise 9'6" is more than enough.
Action wise - the faster the action the harder it is to stop it.
Line - why use something that cannot be used at ICSF tournaments ? the Airflow line isn't ideal and varies from batch to batch - so long as it's not over 38g and not shorter than 15m - personally I use a lines around 36-37g that are between 16-18m in length.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Tom,Tom wrote:Hi Ben.
Here`s some data for a T38 rod:
ERN=18,7
AA=72
NF=4,63hz
Tom.
Answers my question really. Got a 12wt with ERN just over 15, thought that may be stiff enough but seems not! Got the feelers out for a Loomis T38 blank
Thanks for that Andy, had looked at maybe splicing together two 30' coils of T11, this should give about the right weight and a good length. Would this be legal for any competitions?
Cheers
