Shame that you missed the downhill day! Glad that you have survived unscathed, thought a medical story might emerge and you did get further that Chris and the rest of us.

Spot any good water?

Thanks, when I entered the race I didn't actually think about cut-offs, only getting across the country. The cut-offs getting to and through the gorge make the race harder. Which is OK, next time I'll just be better prepared. I really have to practise eating and running together as well as more mountain runs. I also need a new bike! Interesting stuff however and beats running up and down the Danube

Cheers, Paul

I think you missed it because you were stopping off and casting into every decent pool you passed on the Otira!!!

Hi Jonathan,

It goes the other way, up the Deception Valley and then down the Mingha Valley, with a short bit along the Bealey at the end. I forget exactly what Paul said about the fishing prospects up there, but I don't think I'll be loading up my pack and putting my rod in its tube :-).

Regards,

Jo

Good effort Paul, but perhaps a blessing.
Might easily have been A.T.F.U.
Arden ...the fucked up!

It's not a bad looking stream but considering several hundred people were running through it spotting fish was unlikely. Coming out didn't look too bad either come to think of it. Cheers, Paul
