I would buy the 14mm rectaliner from Canon
if i had the funds. I have a tamron 12-24/F4 and
its versatile and gives ok results but after i used
the 14mm on a full format camera i am sold.
The macro is cool to but nearly as versatile in my humble opinion.

Ps. But i couldnt live with out my macro either. Ds

Macro or Wide Angle - what do you use more?
I think it really depends on whether or not you ever fish from a boat/canoe/kayak. Sometimes the length of the boat can be restrictive on whether or not you can get a wide shot, even with a 24 mm lens on a cf camera. That is my criteria much of the time. I have been using a Tokina 11-16 on my 7D. It has taken some getting used to and is really only any good at f8 and up. I would take the wide zoom option any day and used close-up if you shoot RAW highest rez images you'll be astonished at what you can crop down to to give a 'macro' result.

So, I ordered a prime 15mm.
After lugging the dSLR around I figured I wanted a lighter kit over a more versatile but heavier wide angle zoom.
It took way too long to pull the trigger... I think I just need more money and a sherpa/ghille to lug my gear around.
I still plan on having the 100mm macro for the spring hatches (of course I have to really decide if a 100mm is the best macro...).
