Hi Matt,
A lot of good advice here,
The old advice of "don't put all your eggs in the same basket" still holds true

The same applies to storage when travelling, some use portable storage devices but, if that storage device dies, you have lost the lot,

Best practice when travelling is to buy lots of cards and keep all your images on the cards until you have safely stored them at home,

Home storage of data IMHO, is to have 2 terabyte drives, one dies, you still have your data

Just to be sure to be sure :) , I have my best images on DVD as well

The last option I guess is storage on the net, even Norton's offer this service

If you are going to sell your images, storage off the property is also advisable to protect you from fire and theft

Regards,
Gary

Since housebreaking and theft in general is a way of life for many of my countrymen, I've been considering a small gunsafe with small holes drilled for the cables to keep my externals in.......FWIW :D

Hi Loopy!
maybe I can get one to raffle for a sexyloops competition or something.

This would be fantastic! (Hell I may even win it :p)

Thanks! Paul

Hmmm - sadly my (WD) archive drive collapsed - thank goodness for multiple drives.

Using 2 drives on the PC and online storage for backup/emergencies seems to work - would be even better if the online backup software and my security software liked one another a bit more.

OK, I'm running my PC with extra data on a 500 gb WD external with a 1 Tb WD external for backup on the other 2.

Thanks everyone.

Hey Paul,

I sent the link to my colleague in PR and asked him for a drive for you guys if he gets one back from the press - he really liked the fact that you guys are all talking about storage - and this is FLYFISHING.

I told him he should see some of the pics from all round the world. It goes without saying that no-one wants to lose those kind of memories...

Hey even I look back at the Loopy Pic of the day series and wonder how I ever survived. Thank God for Sexyloops!!!

Post all your photos here and they are safe too :p

Seriously, if I can get you something I will - love the positive spirit here on the board - do a competition and raffle it off...

Surviving fishing with Paul is a feat!
And it looks like he put you through it all... Tim Tams included.

You did better than I would have...

I think a draw (like the old snapcast ones) would be great if we were able to get a hard drive. To enter all you should have to do, is post a pict in a designated topic, then a poster's name could be drawn randomly.

It's not easy to take pictures like that.
