Need a new point-and-click - with good macro or super-macro

Post by Biology »

Hi,

We were quite happy with an Exilim EX Z700 for the last three years. This was dropped last weekend and a replacement is now needed.

So, looking for some guidance. The replacement will be used for very general snaps of family, landscapes etc but also for macro shots of small flies. I got some satisfactory results using an 8X linen tester lens placed between subject and the Z700 previously. I noticed that some of the newer Exilims have macro and super macro and wondered what Exilim models, or alternatives I should be considering.

Max budget is £150, which is about what we paid for the Z700 - so hoping we can get a little more bang for our buck this time....

I've tried to research a replacement but found the options a little bewildering, 'though the Exilim EX H5 looks good for the money and includes the super macro setting.

Could anyone steer me towards a suitable camera?

Thanks.

Best,
Andy

If you stretch your budget slightly or look for one of the older models the panasonic lumix tz models are very good. I have a tz6 which has served me brilliantly for the last few years.
