Hvala Janko !!
Hej Coce !
This year there is no sure -shot fly , fishing is heavy .
At Sunday , I was desperate because they didn't want to took any fly I offered .
They come to the fly , look at it , open mouth as they want to grab it and then turn around and disappear
So , I switch to may flies from Ribnik on size #16 + (Krejice ) and on 6X tippet .
That was a winner combination for the day ....

There is Dave report so you can see what the fishing looks like on Sterkies ...
shortly :Million healthy and fat fish laying in the shallows and no one want to take your fly :
Fosaf report Yellowfish February 2011
The season seems to be collapsing early. Sure it started early with great fishing in October and November, but for us to be struggling at the end of February is strange. I think it may be a case of fly-shy. Yup these fish have been hammered. There were three consecutive weekends of fishing competitions, where the fishing pressure was high. It was horrific to see 42 anglers stomping around on the spawning beds at the quarry. I don’t have a problem with these fishing festivals; I do have a problem with reckless behaviour. These spawning areas are very sensitive and there should be a “no go” policy when the fish are spawning. Stay off the gravel beaches, one boot destroys hundreds of eggs. If you do have a macabre desire to fish these areas, only enter the water on mud banks or where there are large rocks, and then wade waist deep, keeping away from the shallows. Better still; don’t get off the boat, thus not disturbing the fish at all. Sure go and fish in the area, but STAY AWAY FROM THE GRAVEL BEACHES.
The beetles of mid-summer have moved on, the yellow and black maize beetles are floating on the water in their thousands. These beetles are toxic and the yellows don’t eat them. This probably explains why the fish have gone of beetle patterns. Taste one of these toxic beetles and you don’t chance your fin a second time. There are a lot of flying ants and termite alates around and this seems to be exacerbating the problem. Eat a couple of these and you are done for the day. The hopper pattern seems to be taking more fish than beetles.
The water temperature is not a factor as in some areas of the dam it is still at 22. When we start getting to the 17degree mark then the fish do tend to go of the bite.
Caddis there is still a plenty, and there are wonderful clouds of mayflies in the evening.
So if you are planning a trip to Sterkies, only come if you like tough fishing, or postpone till November. If you like things easy stay at home and watch the cricket.
But then again, the pressure might just have been wrong, that’s what we love about Sterkies. You were only a professor yesterday. Nobody is bigger than that piece of water, and if they ever tell you they are, they are talking Taurus faeces.
It is going to be a long March.

Yes, but you need worry only about the yellowfish.......
There is magic in it. Let the most absent-minded of men be plunged in his deepest reveries - stand that man on his legs, set his feet a-going, and he will infallibly lead you to water, if water there be in all that region.
