5D Mark II Rumors - WTF?

Post by Rich Knoles »

So checking around on various Photography Blogs, I've seen rumors of a new 5D coming out. I am also seeing prices fall, dramatically.
Here, here, here, and here.
I haven't used any of these retailers, so buyer beware. Has anyone has used Digital Hunter?

The 7D's are being discounted also.
I've read that the 5D is getting some of the features the 7D has, but this is rumor. There is also some talk that there will be 2 5D models coming out.
At $1200 bucks I'm thinking I can go without the new 5D.

Hi,
There are rumours of a 5D MK3 in the UK and possibly a couple of other new models. Its all thought to be in response to Nikons new models including a 36megapixel beast.
£1400.00 is the best UK price I could find for the 5D MK2 body only.
Dave.

Slr-hut add import duty to advertised prices :(

I am looking at a Panasonic bridge camera, and slr hut were by far the cheapest, until the import duty was added at the checkout - after duty Amazon and Jessops were about the the same. No idea how that would work out in countries other than the UK.

Phew, no landslide at the video features. I am glad I don't have to throw away my Mark II.

1080p at 60fps or even higher fps would have made me very nervous. New codec or the clear hdmi would be nice to have. Now I think I would make a better choice to buy a 60d with the articulating screen or even the 600d to complement my 5d mark II.

yep, Ákos looks it as a video-cam, but from a photo-cam point of view they seem to correct some of the shortcomings of the MK2. 61 point AF, new metering system, higher FPS (photo) - all what made me "nostalgic" about my Nikon's fast AF, spot metering and fps - capabilities. an MK2 is for sale, anyone?!

Agree, some very nice updates on the still camera front - although I never quite understood all those claiming that the "5DII Auto Focus is useless, in particular the outer focus-points, metering sucks and the frame rate is way too low for action shots".

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I'm gonna hang on to my Mark II for now

Pure luck! I can literally see how dated your gear is. Would have been a great shot a week ago. :-)))))
