saving horribly over exposed pics
Guys I just got back from a Cuba trip and my old point and shoot olympus 790sw decided to have a bit of an episode when I needed it most so have a bunch of pics from the best day on the flats that are just white over exposed glare. Any way of saving this? The software I currently have is picasa or the olympus master that came with the camera. Pretty low tech compared to the stuff the pros on here use I'm guessing but any tips on how I could try and save my pics would be most appreciated.
Below is the sort of thing I am trying to deal with here.
Cheers

Sport fishing with live kittens?
Too disgusting to be true?

Don't delete them. They'll never become exhibit material, but they cab probably get better than this and still serve as good memories.
Send me a couple of the best in full res and let me try tweaking them a little.

Great flycasters don't think straight - they track straight.....
If it moves - and shouldn't, use duct tape...
If it's stuck - and should move, use WD40...

Good luck with that!
On a similar subject, if you know someone involved in forensic analysis of computers etc, it's amazing what they can do with electronic data.
If ever you accidentally delete anything, or something gets fried, drowned, run over etc, don't give up... Find one of these guys ... I don't know if some photo shops have similar facilities to recover such disasters.
Main thing is to stop using the equipment straight away so as not to further corrupt the data and get them on the case ASAP.
Cheers

Richard,
The guys are right, the highlights are so blown the image is all burnt out..
As Jeroen said, least with underexposure there's latent image in there that can be worked with.
Shame sorry.
