It is refreshing to see that, as the rest of us, great casting instructors can be wrong sometimes, and I presume that isn't an exclusiveness of Lefty Kreh.

Lefty focuses on the rising of the tip, the focus on this thread is on the dip of the tip. Both are equally important IMO and you shouldn't disregard any of them.
Aitor is not like us, he is Spanish, and therefore completely mad.

I think Lefty's argument was tailing loops were caused when the tip travelled straight during the speed-up-and-stop.
It's an exploration; bring flyrods.

"and if you drop your hand even one inch you're going to get a tailing loop..."

No mention of tip path there Paul.

From his Casting With Lefty Kreh (2008), page 405:
"If the rod tip travels in a concave manner, you'll get a tailing loop, but this is because you drove the rod handle straight forward."

Earlier book. I was in the US when I read it and I haven't been there for a while! I actually wrote to Lefty about it and we disagreed at the time.

Cheers, Paul

Lefty seems to have changed his mind a little. Just as we all have done in some degree during these last years.

I don't know the context in which this was written but this could easily be describing "pushing" the rod, where the tip starts to precede the butt during the stroke. This indeed will cause a tail past certain distances, depending on the caster.

I base this on where he says the rod handle is driven straight forward.
