Sideways 170 - is it possible?

Post by James9118 »

This might be a daft question but...is it possible to throw a 170 style morphing backcast whilst sidecasting? [i.e. so the morphing is in the horizontal plane as opposed to the usual vertical].

i think it would be very very hard to get enough line speed. if you watch the height that the fluff comes past the caster when done overhead you can see that it drops very low. i cant imagine getting the line speed needed to keep the line off the ground.
would be happily proved wrong though!

Hi Jim

Just as it's possible to throw an upside down tailling loop, so's throwing the bouncing bomb backcast sideways

Cheers

never tried, the 170 hurts my joints so i'm not very good at it :(
as you point out, i don't see why not but since you brought up 'bouncing bomb', i'm sure the 'bouncing' part on a horizontal plane would be interesting !

it'd still love to see a horizontal one though :;):

cheers,
marc

Your right it is a silly question, but you made up for it with the addition of the ladder latter on in the thread..... :D
I would have a major effect on how I train instructors.
