Welcome to the new forum - - and Noel of course!

Post by Paul Arden »

Hi guys and girls,

welcome to the Castanalysis Forum. This forum is led by Bruce Richards and Noel Perkins - welcome Noel
Here we'll be able to post graphs, analyse casts and figure out our cast and the analyzer in greater detail.

This should certainly prove educational to us all. :kungfo:

Cheers, Paul

oh shit.. this is going to be fun.. :D .great idea paul, to get all the nerdy bits together here... perhaps :D bruce could do a quick summary of the analyser and (all) the benchmarks that comprise it, so we can all be at one with the terms and definitions used ... i,ve spent several days on it and not really come to grips with what i learned....... with great symmetry and no foreward stop dale
EARTH FIRST, we,ll fish another planet later.

I would like to see the casting analyser forum up against the saltwater forum. Tag team - anything goes, but please keep hitting below the belt to a minimum.

Cheers guys! I'm looking forward to having a better understanding of how I can use this tool.

Battle of the forums! :D

Hi Zoran, you can order the analyzer direct from http://www.castanalysis.com - and yes I think it's an excellent idea too, which means Noel must have had it. How many people here already have analyzers, or access to one? I have one.

Right, off to start a new thread!
Cheers, Paul

Really good news!

Looking forward to the first detailed analysis.

Cheers.

i have just a basic idea of this analyzer and how it works.

is there a link that explains (in laymen's terms) its function and use, computer hook-ups and anything else a beginning user would want to know about it ?

thanks,
marc

First, very sorry for the slow start by the moderators. We'll be much better from now on, but one of the reasons we don't have our own forum on our site is the fear we couldn't keep ahead of it. But here I know Paul will gently remind us if we get behind!

We look forward to seeing your charts. We have a lot of experience analyzing typical beginner to advanced casts, but we know we'll be seeing things here we may not have seen before! And there is one below.

Guy's chart shows a rod load of -100, but that isn't what the chart shows. I'll have to check with Noel to see if he knows what happened, the number doesn't match the chart for some reason.

It is possible to trick the CA with numbers well outside the norm. To include text on the screen to help compare casts we needed to set some data parameters to compare test casts with the "expert" casts included. Sometimes we see numbers well outside those ranges that can cause some confusion. Doesn't happen often, but it does happen. I'll try to find out what happened on this one and let you know...
