sorry it's for a 3# 7ft rod someone said buy a black reel and a dark line so as not to distrube the fish is this right. Cheers Maxie

Hi Max, no I would go for a light coloured line that you can see to judge distance and fish a longer leader so as not to spook the fish. On a 3 weight you don't need a fancy drag system so buy whatever you fancy! It's really about value for money in the price point you wish to spend with some question about personal taste.

I think with regard to value for money a Orvis Battenkill Bar Stock in the smallest size would be hard to beat...comes in black or silver. Nothing fancy but light and rather cheap.
