Please could you explain how you have derived the ERN non-linearity? Perhaps if I had this I can work around the different ERN I have for the various length rods that I use a #3 on.

Thanks in advance

Vince

PS Apologies, just noticed I can reverse engineer it out of the Rosetta Stone :p

Take the weight required to deflect the rod 1/3 of it's length.
Divide that weight by 11
The result is the weight of 30' fly line for that rod.
Why 11 g's ?? Sounds excessive for a 30' cast
The lack of linearity is the fly line rating.
Wait until you try out the Bill's proposed 30 weight fly line.
You'd really have to be a "troll" to accelerate that one at 11 g's
93 grams at 30'. Wouldn't want to offend the guy who could

Eugene, I'm certain I never recommended a 40 ERN. However, the ERN is applicable to any fishing rod as it (See URRs) extends to 200.

For those that care, I will be gone fishing for 10 days - using my new rod - I'll be back.

For the record, the CCS of my new rod is:

Length 12 ft
ERN 1.28
AA 82
CCF 32
Tippet 5X
I don't expect to catch anything over 18 inches.
