yes Dale, a lot of them are on pulse to save battery electricity.
best way to find out is to hold it for a while before crossing :p :D

my neighbor's got a line that throws blue sparks when a branch touches it. sometimes we hear boars squeal very loudly in the night

My assistant crawled under an old electric fence out in the bush and got nuked, he said it was like being struck a few times in the back with a bat. :oh:
I've never seen him move so fast. ;)

The only permanent damage was (and still is) all the shit I gave him about it.. :D

Push the fence down using the cork grip on your rod as an insulator then step over it.

It was the fact you leaning on the wire trying to stay vertical you got electricuted, not cos yu were pissing on it, as this dosent give you a shock. :p
Dale save your $5 all youu haveto do is push the top wire down to the wire beloow it, eelectric fence wires need to be isolated from earth so the hot wire will have little plastic or ceramic clips where it is attach to the fence posts. By pushing it down to the uninsulated wire below you cause a short to earth and if the fence is 'hot you will hear a crack as the spark jumps between the 2 wires

How to tell if the wire is on?

Always get a mate to try it first!

If there is any form of protest , try the following.

"It doesnt look on."

"I touched it earlier and never got a belt"

"Look I fish here all the time and the local cocky is so tight never even turns them on. "

" I'll hold your new rod "

If the fence is obviously on , and its a three mile walk around. Be careful.
