Gillette razor blades - What's the difference.

Post by petevicar »

This thread is mostly for the guys who shave. I know there are a few Hemingway impersonators but maybe they too can shed some light on this subject.

Gillette (former sponsors of ZZ Top) introduced a few years ago 2 new series of wet razors.
The Gillette Fusion and Power Fusion;
The Gillette Fusion Pro Glide and Pro Glide Power.

These 4 different razors all have razor blades specific to them
and are all pretty expensive and have different prices. They do however all look the same.

The cheapest is the simple Fusion at approx. 10 Euros for 4,
the most expensive is the Fusion Pro Glide Power at 20 Euros for 4.

What is this all about?

I'm not sure I've seen all four, Peter. I've been buying Fusion - the simple one - four blades, and a fifth on the top? I was using Mach 3, but find the Fusion significantly better. However for my face I go electric!

Cheers, Paul

I think you were shopping in the wrong shop Marc :p :D

I just use a Tesco copy, 3 blades, massively cheaper and does the job perfectly well. I'm not convinced by the more blades is better argument unless you are looking to shave in the shortest time possible.

Why on Earth would you want a vibrating razor, unless you're female? :???:

I'll take the cost savings and slightly longer shaves! :D

I get quite sensitive skin when shaving so like to have as sharp blades as possible within reason. Since I'm replacing blades (well full razors in the tesco case) often I'm not going to be paying Gillette their prices.

Their current razors are quite clever... the same concept is there, a razor with disposable blades which traditionally should be inexpensive but now they charge through the roof. Top work by their marketing department :)

this is Scandinavia Paul... :p :D :oh:

anyhow, adding blades all the time doesn't shave any better, it's just a marketing ploy to increase sales price and most men fall for it.

Or just shave with a broken piece of glass- and use some Vodka instead of shaving lotion...
