Ed Wards DVD Skajit casting 45 degree angle - Confusing to me and maybe others

I have researched Ed Wards 45 degree casting angle on the net and watched the DVD many,many times and haven't been able to quite understand it, yet alone try to explain it to some one else. If their is someone who has that DVD or watched it ,help me understand what he means. Also why he is against the 180 principle for short stroke Skajit Casting.
