As you know the test is given on a field. It''s simply an approximate guide as to how one might perform the cast under that condition. No two casts or casters are ever alike. I chose the cast would convey a simple task that is all. As to assessing the cast on the exam it's not so much technique based as you simply demonstrate the cast. Same applies to Double or Single Spey demos. Just basic stuff, no razzle dazzle for the demo. In the teaching portion of the exam your free to do whatever you like.

Lasse,
Well there is a bit of a crossed anchor in the single spey but the loop unrolls cleanly. Whatever. But no, the site has not been updated as to the new MCI stuff. But anyone who looks at the site and is taking the MCI exam would know that. Aside from the fact the only roll casts that are acceptable are those actually done on the test and either you can make the casts or you cannot. As to the new ones they are there on the MCI test sheet but not on the site. We shot a lot of different casts, some are more better than others. Everyone that has used the site has just said thanks hey that's great. I have no problem with that

So the only roll casts that are acceptable are roll casts that will transfer poorly, if at all to water? Is the expectation in the examinations that you dump a pile of line behind the rod and smack it forwards or to set up a roll cast showing proper form (I mean proper in the sense that it could be used somewhere other than a football field) that may not go so well on grass? Surely it would be "more better" to have candidates demonstrate a useable, fishable cast?Frank LoPresti wrote:Aside from the fact the only roll casts that are acceptable are those actually done on the test and either you can make the casts or you cannot.

You have casts on the CI test that will not be passed.
And there's candidates out there using your site as reference only to find out that what they have practiced is not allowed.
Cheers

Lasse,
And guess what ? No one has ever failed an exam on account of those casts on the site. I suspect no one ever will either. So while I appreciate your concern and value your opinion the rest is unfounded.
Best,
Frank
P.S. I'm quite a bit more concerned about what some potential CI's and MCI's are gleaning from SL about casting mechanics and tip paths. I'd be really more concerned about that right now.

Not required by any of the FFF tests, but my favorite anyway.
Aitor is not like us, he is Spanish, and therefore completely mad.
