Grayling

Post by Paul Arden »

Hi Guys,

I can't remember if I've asked this before, but does anyone here night fish for Grayling? Took one quite nice one after dark today on a black lure.

Up in three hours to see if they rise before dawn. This is quite impossible of course (me rising in three hours, not the fish), but John doesn't know this yet.

Cheers, Paul

Last time the river was too high, this time on its bones... I wonder for how long it was perfect?

For two weeks in late June :p No need of fishing at night :D
Cross the bridge and ask the tyer in the small shop for some good dry flies for the evening rise. :)

this was supposed to be a secret, big graylings like black lures not only after dark but during the day too, much of a surprise to the dry fly purists :p

Yes, I have caught some good grayling on woolly buggers. Nothing to do with getting them on a dry fly. :p

Was a really good three days. OK the first day our flies were too large, and it was the best hatch/rise I've seen on the Ribnik, and in fact anywhere for a good number of years :p The last two evenings we were a bit better prepared and had some excellent moments.

I may come back in the Autumn for some streamer action, otherwise or maybe as well, fish the Drina and region.

Cheers, Paul
