Hi,

Are these available any more?

If so where? (UK/Europe)

If not, what's a good alternative?

Thanks,

Bass

Barrio SLX. No question.

I have both and would happily interchange them apart from the price differential and the hoops you have to go through to get the Nymph in the UK.

Some say the SLX is the better line. It may be.

At least in the 6 where I have both, the tapers and head weights (c.14g)are broadly comparable.

The SLX is a lucky line for me.

Oh ... and you get such fine service from Mike Barrio :)

The Rio i-Line may also be a contender. I've not used that one so much but seems to be the same sort of idea.

Cheers

Hi Bass,
I used both: The Wulff Nymphtaper 6 wt. and the Barrio SLX 7wt. in my AAPGAI exam.
The SLX 7wt. has a 15 gramm head which matches with the Nymphtaper 6wt. head.

The Nymphtaper is about 1,5m shorter in head length! I like the 5wt. and the 6wt. but the 7wt. has a very powerful unrolling. In my book little too abrupt. The 5+6wt. comes significant smoother.
The SLX comes always little smoother in unrolling over the whole range of line weights.
Also the SLX comes in two colours which is a plus in my book.

I used the 6wt. Nymphtaper and cut of two feet but then added a 2,1m Polyleader to have a sink tip line for the exam. That polyleader smoothened out the unrolling which was just perfect for me. Headlength (incl PL) then was 10m... This way both lines were kind of similiar.
