Hardy Zane #6 fly rod

Post by kai »

Hi! Looking for opinions on this rod, also if someone has any recommendations on head weight for shooting heads...
Also if someone has measured this particular rod in ern, aa and so on...
best regards, Kai

Just about the best rod I've ever owned - and the prettiest. It just happens to suit my casting style. But all I've ever used on it is a DT6. I now want the 7 weight BUT the fate of Hardys might impact on the replacement of sections. I broke the tip during my first season with it which makes me wonderr just how robust a tool it actually is.

Hopefully mine will hold..
Have not tried it yet but expectations are high!
Bought some forty plus lines to try on it..

40+ heads are over weighted. Mine and other 40+ 6wt weights I have seen elsewhere have been 248 to 261gr which is almost average 8wt head weight.

But 6wt Zane might be stiffer than average 6wt as well?

I know forty plus heads are heavy..
But I think they'll work.. zane seems pretty stiff.
I'll try them out and give an evaluation..
Cheers, Kai
