Just got back. The Yellowtail Kingfish season is a slightly late
this year, but I landed quite a few on fly.The hand to hand
combat on a flyrod is memorable.
The countryside is beautiful.

Fly caught kingies. The fight is mayhem and these dirty
fighters are never subdued even in the boat!

Finally an XOS Kingie-not on fly.I landed one of these last
year, and they are a trial on fly when one has the opportunity.

Gotta love those Kingies! Those are all bigger than any of the ones I have caught on fly!
Thanks for sharing.
All the best.

About the same size-I can cast them a moderate distance. The other
flies worked well.I've been trying to get you to come on this trip for
years.

As an aside, I fished Meola reef in the middle of Auckland's Waitamata harbour yesterday and while standing in Knee deep water with my fly cast out 60 feet away, two nice Kingfish came charging in towards me, the baitfish swam between my legs and one of the kings was so keen to get to them he bumped into my shin!
Of course by the time I got my fly in close they were not interested, Bugger!
All the best.
