You should try the BBBB style Holger, they are a bitch to
cast but the rewards are worth it. Here is example of a small grayling caught with the BBBB style....
:O :D :p :D :kungfo:

I've never said, that I don't fish big flies...
Take a look at Posting No. 273....

I do fish big heavy nymphs and streamers and yes, you catch a lot of big fish with those kind of flies...sometimes.

There are some slow rivers here in Germany with graying 50cm+, which would laugh about those big ugly flies. They would never take them.
They already know every fly on the market by first name... Size 18-22 is what they like.

For me, it's just a joy to cast dries and emergers to rising fish, more than dashing mean tungsten nymphs on a czeck nymph rig. :)

Take it easy Holger, i am just kidding with you.;) But in Sweden big fish eat big flies generally and here a really big grayling start over 60cm. I have got 5 around or above that mark and none on dries or small nymphs even if i used to fish that 90% of time before the BBBB. We have very big parasitic waps and horse ants here and 4 out 5 of my big ones have eaten immitations of one of those creatures in size 8 or 10. Trout is even worse and some of my favourite flies are in the size of your pike streamers. If you ever seen a 6-8kg trout eat 1-2 pound whitefish or grayling in the same size it becomes a drug to get on of those beasts. I actually cast the flies also but i always use barbless hooks to get them out easy from me or the fish or both:yeahhh:
Everyone has their own drug and that is fine by me and when i am abroad i fish like the locals but here in Sweden/Norway i use the heavy stuff 95% of the time.
Cheers P-A :D :D

Hey P-A,
I'm not angry or mad or anything else.
Flyfishing and-tying is fun! We do this for joy! :D

I think the same way like you. Big fish - big fly. It's that simple. Normally.
If I want to catch a really big trout for example, I would definitley fish a big streamer, probably at night or at early dawn.
I'm really not scared about big flies. :)

I just think you can't compare fishing a wild river in sweden with fishing a river in germany (8.5 Mio to 82 Mio people).
If I want to catch a nice fish in sweden, I would try a BBBB at first for sure.
Here in germany you often got more success with smaller flies, especially when you fish for grayling.
Oh lord... it's december... we all have to much time to THINK about fishing instead of going fishing. LOL :D

Great looking flies, Holger!!!

Your flies look, well, like flies as well, Andy :-)

Lars
Great flycasters don't think straight - they track straight.....

If it moves - and shouldn't, use duct tape...
If it's stuck - and should move, use WD40...
