Hi Dean,
Roll casts:

Switch or Jump Roll cast:
http://vimeo.com/10140572
http://vimeo.com/9998005
double handed Switch:
http://vimeo.com/38378246
Watching Mel Krieger's or Joan Wulff's DVD(s) will always help to become better. I like both pretty much. Besides a perfect one to one lesson there is not the one and only teaching ressource available and probably never will be. We all have different ways to teach and one always to some degree has to find one's own way.
I think that's what makes the journey as great as it is!?
When reading a book or watching a DVD it helps to just stay open minded that there are lots of other great ways of fly casting to learn always.
A personal lesson works always the fastest...

Unfortunately the DVDs I've seen don't really teach, instead just talk about the cast. When teaching the cast there are usually three or four ways of achieving the objective. One sometimes works on its own, sometimes you need a combination of methods, other times some methods just don't work at all and take you backwards. And it's different for everyone. Teaching is really about looking at the problem (or in the case of a DVD, guessing from experience what the likely problems are) and offering all things to try.
Mel's is great for enthusiasm - watch that and you want to go and cast, no question. Ally Gowans, despite some questionable production, really teaches. Bill Gammel's reminds me of BBC2 Open University and is great nuts and bolts teaching. Carl's has IMO the highest production values. Carlos' games on Sexyloops is brilliant teaching. Somehow this should all be combined and then I think video would actually work. So far it hasn't been done. I am working on this! It's a long project regularly disrupted by Slovakian swimming nymphets :p
Cheers, Paul
