FROLLER CAST?

Post by Michal Duzynski »

Hi All
Can you tell me ( if you ever heard of ) what "Froller" cast is?
The way Im reading about it on Italian board, seems to me like a DBL rollcast, or Tongario rolcas
They ask there as well for the specific tackle setup for froller casting.

cheers

Hi Mike

Maybe this video will help

Froller cast is "similar" to spey/switch cast, it's a mix of roll cast and double haul. It has been developed in particular for stillwater competitions where often long casts are required but there's no space behind us to use a "simple" double haul. Some anglers can cast easly more than 30 metres of line with 3 or 4 "false casts". Long fly rods (up to 10') and WF fly line (up to 7weight, long belly possibly...) are required.. this is only one part of this casting technique...the other one (the most important) is training training training :):)

I thought, somebody came up with the new name of casts that already exists.
Thanks Walter

That only works off the bank... Still, good way to wang it out there if you've got trees and stuff behind.

Exactly Lasse,a hauled jumproll.
The funny thing is,when I do presentation on distance casting, everybody says,ma,bha, blah, blah, we dont need to cast so far to fish.
Now they are looking, for a cure in the tackle to cast 100' with the "froller" on the lake to catch the trout.

My answer to them weas to learn properly a switch cast.
Cheers

And let us to be fair: in Italy, the "froller" is not exactly a novelty...

How are you by the way ?

Hi all!

They actually do competitions on fairs with that cast here in Sweden.

Best regards

Dead fish don´t rise. They spawn poorly too.
