Mission Accomplished!
Today after six days of fishing the Baltic, I finally caught what we came for. Around 2.30pm this afternoon I nailed a Short Spined Sea Scorpion. And it was quite a big one.
Some credit has to go to Bernd for encouraging me to wade deeper, and hence into Short Spined Sea Scorpion territory. Thanks dude.
One more day of fishing here and then it's back to Hungary. Look out Asp!
Cheers, Paul

I used to catch a lot of those while bait-fishing as a kid. A big one would have been about fifteen centimetres, although the long spined I have seen reach maybe twenty five cm. If the species available there are anything like here you should be aiming for a three-bearded rockling (10cm) and maybe a Butterfish (15cm) next. Exciting stuff!
What a weird eco-system the baltic must be!

A quick web search reveals I've probably got them the wrong way around. 30cm for the short spined is a trophy indeed, but the long spined are smaller. Just in case you were wondering.
I'm still trying to understand somewhere that freshwater fish and sea fish co-habit. What allows that to happen?

Videos are great! Next time, instead of traveling to the german Baltic, I will ask Bernd to send some video of him catching pike. The results would be, more or less, the same.
