Flyswap 2012

Post by Paul Arden »

Hi guys and ladies,

I've been thinking about the flyswap and how when we have 40 participants we normally only get about 30ish packets through the post. I guess not everyone is as well organised as I am for example. So how about we tie 40 flies and open it up to a greater number of people to compensate for this? Bit of a gamble because we may not get complete sets, however Flybitch could just close the swap when 40 packets have arrived, which puts time pressure on those tying.

And how about 50 this year?

Cheers, Paul

Hmmm, that depends, if the first 40 or 50 flies come in early.... I'm already thinking about starting tying.

Funnily enough I am just going to clear out my 'chuck it there' corner which will eventually expose my fly tying corner. Once fly tying corner is exposed I like to look at it for a few weeks and admire my tidiness. I am not sure I will want to mess it up by actually tying flies. However, if I ever receive the flies from the last swap I might feel inspired to tie for this one.

Is there going to be a theme?

it's casting Jim, but not as we know it, according to EFFA

I’m in as long as flies tied for imaginary fish are acceptable. :p

Are we going for 40 or 50, how do you like my suggestion that the competition closes when Janko has sufficient numbers and where's the list? :)

Cheers, Paul

Ok so lets make some rules for the fly swap and if all of them won`t be broken then it won`t be a successful one :D

Sign up for the swap, end of the year. Flies must arrive by Feb 14th 2011 (yeah right :D ) to my address.
About swap limit? I kinda like Paul`s idea of 50 and first 40 that arrive are in the swap. Cause of competition. First 10 will receive extra fly that catch imaginary fish like asp and mugwai. Who want`s to bet that Paul won`t be last this time :D

Flies to tye? Free theme for now, something you like to fish with ;)
Labeled flies with your name and fly name would be appreciated.

If you want to send flys in matchbox or such a lighter box, just do it. No need for some heavy and expensive flyboxes ;)
Please include self addressed envelope and some money in package so i can send you flys back ;)

My address to send flies to:

Janko Bartolec
Antuna Nemcica 4a
48000 Koprivnica
Croatia
Europe

Cheers,
Flybitch 2012

Any changes will be added later. I`ts fly swap after all :D
P.S. I know i`m late. Was in search for thread and hooks :p

Lets make list:

1. Paul
2. Andy_with_a_rod
3. Trevlett
4. Scotty9
5. Victor? (any suggestions?)
6. Ivica
7. Me
8. VoodooChild

Sounds good to me.

We tie 50 flies and send them to you.
Once the first 40 arrive you send them out, after a few piccies.
Seems fair enough.

Count me in

cheers

That wasn't quite the idea, although we could do that too! I was thinking instead of 40 people this year we have 50, so we tie 50 flies. But instead of limiting the swap participants to 50 Janko closes the swap when the first 50 parcels have arrived. That way we'll have complete sets!
