New world spey casting record at the CLA

For those who didn't know and for those of you you like myself who where lucky enough to witness a fantastic final in the Spey casting at the CLA fair here are the results

Gerard Downey took first with a new new world record 70.63 metres or 231ft and 8.7 inches the first 70+ meter cast in the world!
Travis Johnson took second
Andrew Toft took third

a truley epic cast! awesome to watch well done Gerard!

My son and I watched in awe as some fabulous loops unfurled .
Travis is going to be some one to watch ,as his loops were near perfect on most of his casts .
The original set up for the casts would have been into the very variable breeze but the platform was re set at the last minute so at times there was a following wind .

It was pretty impressive stuff (ACW - were you sat next to me and Ben?) Ben has some good footage of many of the events including the final of the Mens Spey Casting final, epic stuff.

Got all the casts from the Spey & SW finals in 120fps. Will get it uploaded later in the week when I get home.

Gerard Downy 70.63m

I will get some more uploaded once I have sorted through them.

I missed out on qualifying by 115cm, threw 55.85 metres which I was rather disappointed with until I converted it to English and realised it was 62.05 yards which I am more than happy with on reflection.

Ben - great video, what camera did you use ?

Camera is a Casio Exilim EX-FH25. The clips are taken at 120fps, camera will do nice video to 420fps with a max rate of 1000fps but video becomes rather small at this speed.
