Spent Caddis (generic)
Hook: Partridge SLD #8-16
Thread: Benecchi 12/0, tan
Body: Australian opossum - in slight reverse taper (or color to match the natural)
Wing: Mallard drake breast feather, small, dyed tea color - enveloping the body (or color to match the natural)
Hackle: Cock, cree (or color to match the natural)
Note: Minor variation on A.K. Best pattern. Hackle is trimmed flush under body.

Just discovered this material and threw the fly below together to try it out. Its a very interesting long white fibre (natural) that I think will take dye well. I've only tried it with marker pens so far and it grabs the colour. Its silvery white and shines like silk. It is very fine and works well with taperizing scissors.

Haven't checked this thread for a while, there are some really great flies here. My brother has started flyfishing in the salt and that was the motivation to do some proper tying for the first time in maybe 18 months. Shocking! They came out about as well as they would have before that time so that's something at least :-).
This is a collection of Deceivers. I was running low on bucktail plus the fish my brother is after mess up flies apparently so I went with Supreme Hair. Size 1/0 and 2/0 IIRC.
