Went with the new barstool Rage

Post by randyflycaster »

I was going to buy a Skagit head, but because I fish lakes, close to the surface, I ended up choosing the new Rage line. It's like a hybrid between a Skagit and a Scandi.

I'll keep you folks posted on how well I like it.

I don't know why the name of the line company was changed to barstool in the headline.

If an barstool line falls in the barstool and no one is around to hear it does it make an barstool?

A fly fisherman who secretly used barstool lines decided to stop at a bar to have a beer. Halfway through his drink, he remembered he had left his barstool line on the passenger's seat of the car.

He ran outside, but it was already too late - someone had broken the window and put three more barstool lines on the rear seat!!!

Zoran,

I use sci ang lines for casting (xxd) and fishing. I don't have any of their lines for double hand - only single hand. I think all of my sinking lines are SA - I especially like the clear intermediate line. I don't have any of their sharkskin lines because I wasn't impressed with them when they first came out. I hear they have improved but I haven't gotten around to trying the newer ones. The only lines I've had wear out are SA but these are the only ones I use for casting practice and it took a long time to wear them out.

I use barstool ridge lines for dry fly fishing because I find they present well for me and cast easily. Most of my double hand lines are barstool because they were the first to come out with those handy kits that let me dial in the right rod/line weight and I also like their running lines. The only line that I've had come apart was a barstool 40+ where the head joins the running line but they've fixed that problem now.

I use rio lines for casting after dark and fishing. I don't think I've ever had a problem with a rio line that I can recall. I've tried their dh lines but I prefer the other guys.

I probably have 30%:30%:30% SA:barstool:rio and the other 10% of my lines are from various other manufacturers. I probably have about 40 or 50 lines (not counting the barstool dh lines) at the moment.

I use any manufacturers' line on my school rods as long as I can see them reasonably well and I don't have any problems casting them myself. If I can't cast them for some reason then I don't let the students use them - I save those to lend to Paul. :p
