Snowbee ED #5 - legal?

Post by James9118 »

I had a chuck with a Snowbee ED #5 on a TCR at the weekend, it went well - too well :D .

I've done some searching here about the weight of this line but it seems a bit inconclusive - some posters saying that they are in spec, some saying they're over. Has there been a consensus since the topic was last raised?

I've found only one #5 specimen so far that is not over #5, #6 or even heavier.

How many have you measured? The chap who lent me the outfit said that Snowbee now write the 30ft gram weight on the box - I guess these figures are inaccurate?

About half a dozen. Some new, some old. I didn't personally weigh them all, but that's the result I and a friend of mine have reached.

I haven't chucked them since Bart visited me, the 5 was definitely a 6 then and legal in BFCC but shouldn't be. No idea how it is now. I think the style of sexyloops shootout is the fairest. This way it doesn't matter.

Cheers Paul

Hello,

I have the Snowbee ED in 5 and 6, the weight of first 30' of line is : 9,5 gram (5)
10,7 gram (6)

I like the line, for distance casting and fishing !
Mathias Lilleheim once gave me the tip for this line.
With the Barrio GT140S, I cast similar the same distance.

Cheers

The line I was casting has now been weighed - apparently it was well over.
