CTS Affinity X for Sale 10' #6 FIVE piece
CTS Affinity X for Sale 10' #6 FIVE piece
Hi All,
I've emailed Paul to see whether 'Classifieds' are allowed, but I think he's busy piking.
If it isn't, I won't be offended if the listing gets removed
Anyway, I have a fabulous 10' Affinity X for sale...
- matt blank
- struble salt-proof reelseat
- single legged titanium strippers
- single legged 'gunsmoke' guides
- all very minimalist, urban chique!
MUCH more here, on the Ebay listing.
Thanks,
Bass

FWIW, I think a wanted/not wanted section would be bloody useful!
It would need to be monitored.
A lot of forums place a lower limit on the number of posts you have to have made before being allowed to post in the Classifieds section. typically 30-50 posts.
Or a time limit of membership, maybe. I'm sure Ikonboard can do this.
Anyway - Like I said, oops!

I got the tubes and end-caps from at Anglers' Corner in York, UK.ennio wrote:Nice drainpipe tube bass; where do you buy those end caps?
I put all my homemade rods in them.
And my wife makes rod bags out of any old bit of material she has hanging around - the more outlandish, the better!
The bag for the rod for sale was made specially by a professional.

What? Why am I selling it?
- to finance another rod build
- to see if there's a demand for such a product

Thanks,
was just curious to know if you no longer fancied the rod or if there was other reasons.
As a side note I'll have to mention that I've just bought two 5pc CTS Affinity MX blanks; one 9' 5wt (the ultimate all-round trout rod) and a 10' 7wt for salmon and large streamers for river trout.
All rods build on CTS blanks I've ever tried have been excellent :pirate

Hi Grunde,
I thought it was going to fill the tiniest of gaps in my range of fly rods
I felt it was better suited to a 7 than a 6, and I have 7 covered!
I have just ordered a 9'6" 5wt, in FIVE pieces - should arrive any day now.
I'm guessing it will be a good 6wt, which is what I was after. What do you think?
Do you build them yourself? IF not, where do you get the finished article from?
Cheers,
B

The 10' #6 really is a powerful rod. I agree, seatrout or light salmon. And in five pieces and a saltwater reelseat, makes it an incredibly versatile mid-range tool.
Was sorry to see it go - but that in itself was a good experience, the first time I have ever reduced my excessive collection of rods. It felt good - I'm going to do it more, until I have the bare necessities, plus a spare or two, and rods that the kids can grow into - although my little boy, who is 3, has already declared that he wants a blue rod, and my 5 year old daughter has expressed an interest in a pink one.
Happily CTS can accommodate both!
Can't wait to build those two

Hi,
gaps in fly rod range yeah right :p
Interesting, so the rod you were selling would have covered the need I'm filling with the 10' #7 MX rod, and yes the Affinity X(es) I've tried was on the beefy end of the spectrum. My impression is that the MX range is a tad softer for the line weight, and a bit less tippy.
Sounds good, I just wish they were making the 5wts in the the MX range in 9'6" and 10' as well. Should be excellent nymphing and float-tube/boat rods.
Yes I'll build them myself. It's the only way of getting exactly what I want (i.e. very light and minimalistic), and as a bonus it's also great fun
Cheers,
Grunde
