Sage 1190 ONE - This a GREAT rod
Sage 1190 ONE - This a GREAT rod
Finally got to fish the 1190 ONE, this is an absolute ball tearer of a rod, easily the greatest rod I've ever used on a fish. Its very light, very powerful, casts very sweetly and can really pull on a fish. We used it recently to knock over some small Hervey Bay marlin. We also used a new 8000 Pro series reel from Sage. We used the 8 reel on the 11 rod, its big enough (400 yards of 50lb gsp backing) and has a very powerful smooth drag with an incredible range of possible settings.

Here's Diana Rudolph with a 40lb GT landed on a prototype 12 weight. I had heard that when Jerry Siem fishes he never uses a rod that's in current production and its true. He's down here at the moment with Diana (she is a GREAT angler) and he bought a massive rod tube full of a range of prototype saltwater rods that a few of us got to fish with and a few of which may become production rods in a few years time. In whatever range this rod eventually comes out in I want one.
