What do you use to clean your cork handle on your fly pole?

Rinse handle in hot water. Put on a very small amount of bleach on the handle and rub in with a sponge.

Leave for 5 mins, then rinse off....comes up like new.

Dry and then apply a coat of u40 cork seal.

Thank you, I will try it out. Before use, would you put U40 on a new cork handle?

Nothing, apart from a little lukewarm water to get the slime off. A used rod should look used IMO.

+ a few fish scales on the hadle for extra charm :D they stay on the cork like glued if you dont rinse the handle with water immediatly after handling slimy fush.

And contrary to what it says on the jar, you can easily aplly two coats - I do that and it really does work well.

Great flycasters don't think straight - they track straight.....

If it moves - and shouldn't, use duct tape...
If it's stuck - and should move, use WD40...

Rain and a dunk in the river is all. Well used cork develops a natural neat smooth patina look that brings charm and grace to the grass/glass/plastic rods. :D
