Line Selection - What line .. so many to choose from!

New CD downunder 9' 5-6 rod, new Shimano Intrga 56 reel all ready to go but what line???

Can anyone suggest which is the most suitable line I should buy?

I am as my handle implies not particularly adept as of yet. But I want to buy a line that will get the best out of the rod. There are so many to chose from and the price range is rediculous. All very confusing.

I would like a WT 5 F for NZ rivers but will also be on lakes occassionally. What should would be most suitable?

Any help would be gratefully received.
