The rods will be interesting. I know that Orvis are bringing out a new distance 5-weight stick, but I don't know if they'll have it out in time or if they'll enter it!
It's an exploration; bring flyrods.

Last year they used a TFO - not the TiCRx, and a Loomis - not the MLS (at least not printed on the rod). I have a feeling the rod may have been a special edition for the comp. I cast the Loomis - it felt very much like the MLS though.

Well, that depends on what side of the continental divide you're on.

It's like polo, but in the water.

Hi Paul,

Will definitely be ready by then as I'm expecting delivery of mine in the first week of Jan (tournament rod not Helios tipflex). Not sure what needs to be done to enter a rod into this thing, if you know or know where I can find out drop me a message and I'll look into it.

Cheers

An insider at Orvis told me this week he had a waggle with the new ZG , his words were ,"stick with your Loomis man"

Nuff said.

Hi Ben, I don't know, you'll have to get in touch with the show, and the rod will have to be availbale for all the shows. I *think* Orvis have to take a booth on a certain number of the shows to enter the rod, but I'm not sure.

Then he doesn't know what he's talking about. I cast both the ZG and the Helios over the weekend and I was impressed.

Cheers, Paul

Strange....

Very few Orvis UK staff have seen the new ZG Helios, only about a dozen rods in the country at the moment and we have not yet seen a tournament rod in the UK :???:

Ben, was the ZG Helios the really light rod you gave me to cast at the end of Sunday, the 5wt? I really liked.

Certainly was Lee, I've since added a 909 to my order list :D

Got a look at the 910 SW rod and it weighs the same as the 0G 905-4 freshwater rod.

Cheers

My first impressions of it was that it was a very nice rod, not a distance stick but then it's not supposed to be. Light in the hand, throws lovely loops, nice action. It might have felt even better if I had not been casting TCRs all weekend.

I agree, very nice rod. Picked up a 10wt at the show and it was ridiculously light. Really did feel like a #5 or #6. Looking forward to seeing the tip flex version when it comes out.
