More events in the UK ?

Post by Dung Fly »

Would people like more ICSF type events held in the UK or are those that are run by the BFCC enough ?

Just a thought :glare:

Hi Andy,

I'm not sure if there that sort of interest in the UK but I have heard a whisper that Carrillion ( I think) are going to organise several events at shows that will involve fly distance, spey, plug and accuracy and there is a serious prize for the winner.

Mike,

Please keep me posted on what you hear.

I understand that the heavy stuff (T38/T120) isn't everyones cup of tea, however I'm pretty sure that with more events (social or competition) we in the UK would increase our abilities and could even feature higher up the table in the ICSF events.

Honestly I would prefer the BFCC route, you have the opportunity to develop the events in whatever manner you want and I think that's a good thing. It gives you guys a chance put together what you think are going to be the most popular games.

If you guys choose to focus on your own games my preference would be a little less emphasis on distance and try to balance out the events a little it more with some accuracy and plugs. In the 99 years the ACA has been holding national tournaments the accuracy games have always been far better attended than distance by at least 4 to 1.

It also gives the tournament balance, making the all-around competition more meaningful IMO. Personally I get a lot more enjoyment out trying all casting disciplines, not just 9 identical events with different rods.

No not that one Magnus, as I said the new one will involve me having to learn spey and plug cast plus lob a lead, maybe.

I will try and find out more over the weekend.
