Ray
I take back my earlier praise and suggestion that the salmon fly would be perfect for NZ.
Having seen the size of the barstool Im worried it will swim down grab and land fish all by itself!! :D :p :D :O

It's a floater Neil!!! Big trouts come to it!!!!

It is very nerve wracking when a big Bow, Brown,Bull, Cutt, etc.. well for Canada anyway, comes shooting up from the bottom and breaks the water to slap the TTFU and then comes back to take it half wet.. ...

You all can send them back to me I would not say no!!!...
As in the army I have never had a bad day fly fishing, some damn uncomfortable ones but never a bad one.

Hooray!!! Mine have arrived !!!!! Just starting to look at them more closely. I don't know what "Awesome Lady" thinks of this swap business. She looked at the fine examples of the blend of science and art that were in the package and just went off down the hall shaking her head. She was probably just overcome by the experience.

Thanks to all that participated, and thanks to Paul for giving all these flies a European holiday to be envied.

WOW dip that fucker in some hot oil and he would taste great...

Had an old vet in the small village of Waterford NB where I grew up and he boiled grasshoppers and ant in oil beside the road, all the time, weird old fucker..

not sure, yet I have no commitment one way or the other, as to which is best.. it would be great to do two weeks on each, in the hands of a great fishing guide mentor, not doing the tourist thing, just real manshit so to speak!!!

I have yet to see / get mine but the photos are great.

Just one major question - did Paul really tie that yellow chenile mayfly :glare:

If so, can we please have a step by step Paul ;)

Did he or did he not? If so someone has been tuitoring him on the art of tying .........

Eric!
Just looked at the pictures. The yellow may variant happens to my tie, not Paul's....

Sorry Joakim, my mistake. I will send Eric the correctly named pic. It's a bit of a relief actually, some of us were more than a bit shocked that Paul had tied it :D

Who tied the pale spider with kind of lowwater style? (pic taken at 10:47)
I would like to know what hook that is. Anybody that recognize it?

joakim

I tied the pale "spider" at 10.47
It's a varivas barbless wave hook.
The fly is a low riding dry yellow may.

Tail is coc de leon
body is Camel under hair thinly dubbed over pale yellow thread
Hackle is genetic golden Badger.
I left the hackle full so people could modify as they wished, i'd cut the bottom to a shallow V for best effect.

Cheers

Sandy
