PNW Gathering - Are you up for it?

Post by joesnuffy »

Let's throw around the idea of a Pacific Northwest Gathering.

What Locations?
What Dates?
How long?
Who's in?

I've suggested to Umpqua. What say you?

i think we should pick a target fish species first.

steelhead, salmon, trout, & bass are the main options.

Central OR is a good option for trout with several high quality stillwater fisheries and a few rivers as well. I think that might be my vote since steelhead are such a crapshoot. Trout is much more reliable. Planning a steelie trip 3 or 6 months in advance and expecting good conditions is a real stretch.

Those fisheries are all open in the late spring and summer.

Trout sounds good because I do concur that Steelhead are a crapshoot. Isn't there a bit of bass water in C.O. as well?
is this a good depiction of what you had in mind?

Yup, some of the lakes have big bass and trout.

If we can't find fish on that map, then we SUCK!

Also, there are more lakes and rivers just west and SW of that map.

i think we pick a general area and then look for the hot fishing. if we have a few groups we can have rovers out at several different waters each day.

Some rivers, some lakes, whatever.

unsure of time frame. Lets do some research. Deffinitely somewhere May - July.

Upper Deschutes area? Lots of rivers, streams and lakes..... Most of the river water in Oregon doesn't open until ay 24 this year. Some of these waters are open year round......

Right. Bend, OR area.

Deschutes, Crooked, Metolius, Crane Prarie, Davis Lake, etc.

All well known waters.

Definitely do it after the general opener so there are more options.

those lakes seem to always be in a state of flux with management and fish size. never been to any of them, myself. would be good fun to explore with a good crew.
